End Tables Sighted + Other News

July 2, 2012

I love seeing what other people do with furniture that I also happen to have. I found this blog through a quick google search, and look- those are my end tables!!!  (And how awesome are the colors in this room- I love the lime green - teal combo).

Although one of mine is looking a tiny bit different now :) I'm finally putting on coats of polycrylic and polyurethane. (The difference between the two, I just learned). So I'm hoping, if it's not too humid this week, the coats will be dried, sanded, reapplied and one table will be complete. I am so excited about these tables, y'all. Even my husband likes it- despite the fact that he gave me a quizzical look when I tried to explain my vision.

In other news, my patio renovation is also nearing completion. Although, I'm beginning to think projects around my house are never truly complete- anyone else feel this way? Anyways, I have a few finishing touches I want to add- lighting, pillows + cushions, and maybe some more plants. Pictures of that will be appearing here soon.

Some girlfriends and I saw Magic Mike on Friday, haha I know, - at the Drafthouse of course. (I've become such a movie snob these days- I will ONLY watch movies there). True to form, they had some entertaining, prequel videos:

Classic SNL- great laughs for your Monday (ignore the fact that it's backwards....)

Don't Talk, Don't text....

Happy Monday all!

Breaking Dawn I Alamo Drafthouse

November 21, 2011

Don't worry- no spoilers here!  Feel free to keep reading even if you haven't seen it :D

On Friday, I ventured over to Alamo Drafthouse with some of my besties to check out the new Twilight movie.  If you've never been to the Drafthouse, and you live near Austin, it should definitely be on your list of things you MUST do :)  It is seriously the best way to watch movies.  You may have heard about this quirky theater via this well known video that was recently released:

Anyways, before each film, instead of showing annoying commercials like most movie venues, they show videos pertaining to the feature presentation. Of course for Breaking Dawn, most of the videos were about vampires. Below are a few hilarious (parody) clips that were shown... enjoy!

North x Northwest

November 11, 2010

This past weekend, X and I were in North Austin to run a few errands, and we decided to stop by a restaurant/brewery I've been wanting to try for a loooonnnngggg time:  North by Northwest.  Unfortunately, I have no pictures of the interior or exterior, but it was a very nice atmosphere for lunch (and I think would be for dinner too!).  I had a burger + garlic fries:

The fries were so, so good.  Garlic usually doesn't appeal to me, but it was just enough to add the right amount of flavor.

X ordered the pulled pork sandwhich + garlic fries:

Very tasty.  It came with a mango salsa on top, which made it a little sweeter than I've tried before.

And of course, we couldn't stop by and not try their locally brewed beer.  No pictures :(  But I had the Northern Lights (an light beer, tasting similar to Amstel Light) and X tried the Bavarian Hefeweizen (a pretty typical hefeweizen with a hint of banana- sounds weird, but it soooo was good).

We were both really impressed with this place and only wish they were a little farther south so that we could visit it more frequently!

And Speaking of Anthro...

Congratulations to Paloma's Nest! I've always loved her ring bearer bowls and I'm so excited for this new adventure she's embarked on!  I love seeing small (local) businesses succeed :)

Quiet Company

August 18, 2010

I just recently discovered this (local) group and I. am. in. love.  I haven't stumbled across a group or song that I was excited about in a quite some time, and I was even more excited to learn that they're from Austin!  The song is called "Hold My Head Above the Water"
