A Lazy Weekend

June 13, 2011

I feel like the previous weekend was far more productive than this weekend.  Instead of jumping on our list of "to-do" home improvement projects, we spent most of Saturday and Sunday lounging inside, away from the 100 degree temperatures outside.  We did manage to sneak out Saturday to grab some burgers at one of my favorite places, Phil's Icehouse, which conveniently opened a second location in south Austin :)

I also managed to finish the mirror project, and now I just need to take photos and blog about it.  I think it turned out well :)  How did you spend your weekend?

It's Only Monday....

November 15, 2010

But I am sooo looking forward to this next weekend.

1. X and I are going to see HP at the IMAX on Friday!! (and I think I'm going to make a Gryffindor scarf in honor of it- sewn, not knitted/crocheted).

2. It means only a week is left until Turkey Day. We haven't finalized our plans just yet, but my MIL is ordering food from Central Market. Enough Said.

3. Whether the cold weather stays or not, I'm hoping to pull out our fire pit and make some s'mores.

Happy Friday!

November 5, 2010

Hello Friday!  We're planning to keep this weekend low-key and, of course, we look forward to enjoying the extra hour we're gaining on Sunday.

Have a great weekend :)

Birfdays

September 20, 2010

This weekend was one long birthday celebration for us.  We took a short trip to Fredericksburg to visit my Oma (Grandmother) and Opa (Grandfather), whose 86th birthday was Sunday.  My Oma made a wonderful meal and a delicious chocolate cake for dessert.  Normally, I'm not a big fan of chocolate-anything, but this cake was not too chocolate-y and the icing was so, so, so good.  My Oma makes her icing from scratch and had never bought icing from the store until once, earlier this year, I recently learned.  It makes me wish I would/could cook and bake more from scratch.

The remaining part of the weekend was spent celebrating my husband's birthday (which was a milestone-3.0.).  We had a wonderful night out with friends on Friday (at two of our favorite spots:  Opal Divine's, followed by Little Woodrow's).  On Saturday, we ran errands, cleaned house, and celebrated some more later that evening with my papa and in-laws.  Of course we also watched the (UT) game, which left much to be desired, but at least we won :)

Oh, and there was one more birthday to be celebrated.  The husband, X, shares a birthday with our hound, Kingsley.  We actually didn't find this out until after we took him to the vet for the first time.  Obviously, we were all meant to be together :D  I managed to pick up some cheap party hats while I scrambled to finish preparations for X's birthday on Friday.  After strapping one on the hound,  I managed to snap a few, quick (and blurry) pictures* of him while enticing him with his birthday bone.

*Although I tried.... Sadly, X would not allow to take any pictures of the both of them with hats on, hehe.

Wonderful Weekend

January 11, 2010

This weekend, X and I started a long list of projects that will hopefully prep our house to be sold sometime mid-year.  While X focused on some much needed yard work (pulling weeds and replacing fence boards), I stayed warm and cozy inside cleaning out and organizing my craft room.  Now that (most of) my left over wedding supplies are stashed away, I can't wait to start on some new projects that are buzzing around in my head.  Here are a few that I want to start on-

Make use of my new dressform

X surprised me with a dressform for Christmas.  I have a few skirts and a shirt I've been wanting to make for a while- now I may actually get them finished!

Decorate my Calender

Back in December I entered one of the fun giveaways on m.writes, and I actully won this cute little calender.  I have a big supply of embroidery thread that needs to be used, and I think this project will be perfect for it.  The calender will hang in my craft room, of course.

Wishing everyone a happy Monday and a great week!
